If you haven’t noticed yet, there is only one you. Just one, and that’s your greatest advantage.
Take a minute to look in the mirror and see yourself eye to eye. Look closely. You are the passenger in a very intricate, noble, and majestic vessel. Your human body is a shell that houses your soul (or you can call it spirit, or call it pizzazz.) Whatever you call it, it’s called “you.” And you are an interesting spiritual creature riding in a vessel that allows you to live on a planet covered in water and rock. This is your home: the universe. We are hurdling through space as I write this, and whether we like it or not, we are having an adventure of a lifetime. So what do you plan to do with this one wild and precious life?
The truth is that no matter how you slice it, you are 100% unique. You are not some hodgepodge compilation of other people’s ideas. Even if we as a species get stuck in mental tangles, and trapped in societal thinking, we are each still uniquely processing that information. And you know what else? Everything you think about matters. Everything. You can do and be whatever you want, even if you are 68 years old.
- Set an example! Sure, there may be almost 7 billion people in the world and counting, and you wonder how you fit in, and how you might make a difference. I’ll tell you how: set an example. What are your key strengths? Smiling? Math? Listening? Do what comes naturally for you and do it well.
- Find someone that will support your uniqueness and someone that supports your vision. Make a resolution to talk with that person once a week. Feeling like you can “be yourself” is the most important part of living into your passions. If someone is holding you back, kindly remove them (even temporarily) out of your life. Yes, even if it’s family.
- Dream Bigger. I want you to think unrealistically about your future. That is where magic is made.
